Why Men Shouldn’t Fear Jewelry with Albert Muzquiz of @edgyalbert

Albert Muzquiz, aka @edgyalbert, has been a friend to Bloedstone for a while now. He wears his pieces in a way that’s not forced and feels natural. The mens jewelry dialogue has been going around for a while now and it was a fitting piece for Albert to pick up and debunk. We were happy to get to throw our two cents in and be apart of the conversation.

The video is worth watching in full. But one thing that was said stuck with us:

“Jewelry is inherently vulnerable because you don’t put a ring on by accident... it requires some level of emotional investment.”

That’s the whole thing, really. Jewelry isn’t like a toaster or a car, where someone can just tell you what’s best and you go buy it. It requires a little digging. A little honesty with yourself about what you’re drawn to and why. I’ve been saying some version of this for years. The stone comes first. Then the setting. Then the story you’re going to build around it, whether you plan to or not.

Still from our conversation with Albert.

Behind the Camera Again

Albert and I got to hang out again recently, grab a drink and get some shots. Seeing how he’s styled all of his pieces and how well they worked together was a nice testament of our work and it’s moments like this that really make me feel like I have the coolest, most rewarding gig in the world. That shoot will be releasing soon, so stay tuned!

The Pieces

Albert mentions a few specific things in the video. We’ve linked them all below if you want to take a closer look or start your own conversation with us about something custom.

If something in the video caught your eye and you don’t see it here, reach out. We’d be happy to get you set up with your next favorite heirloom.
